City of Cayce Receives SC Area-Wide Optimization Program Award for 2016

The City of Cayce is excited to announce that they have received the 2016 SC Area- Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) Award for the Cayce Water Treatment Plant. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) sponsors this program, which supports utilities in improving disinfection and particle removal for the benefit of public health.

The SC Area-Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) is an effort to optimize the performance of existing surface water facilities. The program goal is to optimize particle removal and disinfection of all filtration plants to maximize public health protection from microbial contaminants, and reduce risk of illness from contaminated water. This is achieved without capital spending on plant improvements.

“We could not be more thrilled to receive the AWOP Award! Ensuring we do our part to provide clean water for our residents is always a top priority as we continue to work towards our sustainable water quality goals.” stated Cayce Director of Utilities, Blake A. Bridwell.
