Information on New Ordinance Regarding Parking Vehicles in Front Yards

The request for an Ordinance addressing parking cars in yards was brought to Council by the City’s neighborhood leaders and Council’s action was true democracy in action. Council asked City staff to create an Ordinance that takes care of the issue without being overly burdensome or expensive to homeowners and not being labor intensive on staff to enforce and encourages green options to help prevent further storm drainage issues.  For the majority of people, their home is the biggest investment they will ever make and Council was asked as a Council to help protect that investment.  City staff and Council constantly focus on creating best practices for the City.

At its meeting on April 21, 2021, City Council approved an Ordinance regarding parking vehicles in front yards of non-owner occupied properties that will go into effect October 18, 2021.
